I didn’t like this one very much. Hot Asset follows Ian Bradley, a Wall Street hotshot, who’s everything you’re already probably thinking… has a seven-figure salary, dressed to the nines, douchey I mean arrogant.
Right from the beginning I found this story really cringe but it has its moments, there are cute moments between the two main characters but you just have to read through it to get there. It doesn’t discredit that the entire beginning of the book Ian doesn’t respect Lara or her career. I’m all for a redeeming moments but I don’t feel there was enough to sell me on Ian and the relationship between Ian and Lara.
Ian’s a typical arrogant rich guy from the beginning of the book, which to me was incredibly annoying and not cute at all. I couldn’t understand why or what Lara was attracted to or found attractive about Ian other than his looks…
The one thing I did really enjoy about this book was the relationship between Lara and Sabrina, her assistant. I would have loved to get more from their bond and working relationship.
I find it interesting that in a lot of romances like this one it writes the main character, specifically the women, to have never have had a good orgasm until meeting the love interest. What’s with that? But it’s sweet that in Hot Asset Ian also has the best sex with Lara, which balances it all out… If the book was more like the last half of the story I would have enjoyed this one way more because the first half of the book there was WAY too douchey and I wanted more romance. I also couldn’t believe what was happening and I didn’t like that Lara loses herself for a guy.
I definitely rushed reading the ending. I wasn’t enjoying it but I wanted to see how everything would fall into place. I would have definitely enjoyed this one more if there was more cute banter between the two without so much arrogance.
